Who am I?

Certified translator authorised by Landgericht Erfurt for the language pair Polish-German, qualified translator for Polish and German as well as LL.M. (tax) graduate of tax law and accounting.

EXPERIENCE
I have been working as a translator for over 14 years. I specialize in translating tax-related texts (both provisions of legal acts and writings issued by Tax Authorities, Administrative Bodies or courts) as well as texts related to accounting (financial statements, audits, accounting policies, etc.). During the many years of cooperation with a tax advisory firm in Lodz I had the opportunity to translate fragments of legal acts and regulations in the field of the Polish tax law, as well as authentic documents functioning in legal transactions, such as decisions and summons from Tax Authorities, rulings of administrative courts, claims and advance rulings from Polish into English and German and vice versa. Apart from this, by cooperating with translation agencies, I translated documents and texts from other fields of law (criminal, civil and commercial law), business correspondence, offers, websites as well as functional texts such as instruction manuals of power tools, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

in the year 2008 I graduated from 5-year MA studies in German Philology at the University of Lodz
in August 2006 I participated in a summer school for translators and interpreters at the Department of Applied Linguistics and Cultural Studies in Germersheim, being part of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz
in the academic year 2006/2007 within the student exchange programme Socrates/Erasmus I studied at the University of Sheffield in Great Britain
in the year 2007 thanks to a scholarship granted to me by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) I studied for 1 semester at the Humboldt University in Berlin
in the year 2009 I graduated from the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies for Translators at the University of Warsaw for the translators of the German language and in the year 2010 I finished the same Postgraduate Studies but for the translators of the English language
in the year 2011 I graduated from a Postgraduate Studies in Tax Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Lodz
in the year 2016 I was granted my second Master degree as a graduate of 2-year second-cycle studies in the field of tax law and accounting at the Faculty of Law and Administration and the Faculty of Management at the University of Lodz
since October 2021 I participate in the 10th Edition of the School of German Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Lodz

What I can offer

TRANSLATIONS

I translate both from German and English into Polish, and from Polish to the above-mentioned languages as well as in the language pair English-German. I am a certified (sworn) translator for the language pair Polish-German. Here are some examples of the translations I made:

legal translations of texts from various areas of law::
- criminal law: court rulings, instructions on rights, arrest warrants, legal aid applications;
- civil law: notarial deeds, lawsuits and petitions, divorce rulings, writings in inheritance cases, powers of attorney;
- tax, financial and administrative law: decisions, rulings and summons of tax offices, complaints to and judgments of administrative courts, appeals against tax decisions, transfer pricing documentation;
- commercial law: company agreements, minutes and resolutions of the shareholders' meeting, financial statements, opinions of statutory auditors;
translation of diplomas and report cards (school reports), certificates of employment, documents from the registry office (register office), registration cards as well as any other documents occurring in official use;

INTERPRETING

I offer consecutive interpreting (i.e. the speaker makes a pause after a few sentences and the interpreter conveys the said sentences into the target language) as well as a vista interpreting (sight interpreting, i.e. interpreting of a text in written form).

TRANSCRIPTION AND SUBTITLES

My experience as a translator also includes translation of documentaries and films from English and German into Polish as well as subtitling and transcribing.

Performing a transcription or translation of a movie or an audio file is billed for each minute of the source file.

CAT TOOLS

Especially when working on a translation of large texts I use SDL Trados Studio 2019. Computer assisted translation is not a machine translation! Translation software helps a.o. to ensure consistency of terminology throughout the text and to accelerate the translation process. Moreover, CAT tools help to maintain the appearance and layout of the source document in the translation.
